Vocabulary is one of the essential components in mastering a language. Without sufficient vocabulary, learners often experience difficulties in understanding and expressing ideas effectively. Therefore, teachers are required to apply creative and innovative learning media that can improve students’ interest and motivation. One of the instructional media discussed in this book is Video Compact Disc (VCD), which has been proven to provide audiovisual stimulation that supports vocabulary acquisition more effectively than conventional teaching methods.

This book presents a comprehensive discussion of the effectiveness of using VCD in vocabulary instruction. It consists of six chapters. Chapter I introduces the background and significance of instructional media in vocabulary learning. Chapter II discusses the effectiveness of VCD, vocabulary concepts, types of video CDs, the use of video CD, and the classification of instructional media. Chapter III elaborates the experimental study, including qualitative study, descriptive survey study, and experimental study. Chapter IV explains the practical application of video CD in teaching-learning activities. Chapter V highlights the use of video CD in educational practice. Finally, Chapter VI presents the discussion, conclusions, and the list of published abstracts related to this study.
